Tropical Storm Gabrielle was the seventh named storm of the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season. It was a short-lived storm that crossed over eastern North Carolina. Gabrielle was formed as a tropical wave and then, on September 8, it developed as a subtropical cyclone about 385 miles southeast of Cape Lookout, North Carolina. On October 10, Gabrielle’s center was spotted about 330 miles south-southwest of Nantucket, Massachusetts and it was moving in a east-northeast direction. After becoming a subtropical cyclone, Gabrielle was spotted in an area with a cooler air to the north. Because of the wind shear the storm was affected but because of the decrease in the wind, the subtropical cyclone became a tropical storm. On September 9, Tropical storm Gabrielle made landfall at the coast of North Carolina with a maximum winds of 60 miles per hour or an equivalent of 90 kilometers per hour. It moved to the northeast direction which caused the storm to disappearand it is forecast to dissipated on September 11. The tropical storm Gabrielle brought torrential rains. No fatalities were reported and the damage was minor. This tropical storm was really a blessing for those dry regions. That is the positive effect of the rain that a storm brought, the areas that are gripped by drought was dumped by heavy rains.
