Hurricane Hernan was the fifth hurricane of the 2008 Pacific hurricane season and it was also the first major hurricane of that season. According to the U.S National Hurricane Center, Hernan was the eighth named storm of 2008 in the eastern Pacific season. Hurricane Hernan have reached its peak pf 140 kilometers per hour and it was classified under the Category 1 hurricane. The U.S National Hurricane Center said that Hernan is expected to gain more strength for the next day before it would take its way over cooler waters.
At 5 afternoon of August 8, the hurricane’s eye was spotted about 1,465 kilometers southwest of Baja California peninsula and it was moving in a westward direction. Hernan was formed as a tropical wave and it became a tropical depression on August 6. It was the first major hurricane, a storm with a winds of 111 miles per hour or higher than that.
