Tropical Storm Fay made its third landfall in the territory of the state of Florida. On August 21, The tropical disturbance had a maximum sustained winds of at least 60 miles per hour. The weather bureau anticipated the storm to dump almost 30 inches of rain in many parts of the region. The heavy rains that the storm brought, triggered flooding in the entire state of Florida. The St. Johns River is one of the most worst flooded areas in Central Florida which reached a peak of 10.95 feet, the water levels are still raising as the time passes by. According to initial assessment, Fay has only left a minimal damage to the structures and facilities. But it left homes in a deep flooding situation because of the torrential rains that the hurricane Fay brought. On August 20, 2008, Charlie Crist, the Florida governor, warned his fellow-men to be ready because Tropical Storm Fay was about to hit the state again, and could possibly dump of at least 30 inches of rainfall in what he described as a “serious catastrophic flooding event.” Crist asked President George W. Bush for a federal emergency declaration to help them pay for clean up because it would take a huge amount of money. It is significant that people must pay attention in reading or watching news for the awareness of each individual.
