Hurricane Irene strengthens as it steams towards US

    August 25, 2011

East Coast residents are bothered because of the hurricane Irene. It has a maximum sustained winds of 100 mph. The US National Hurricane Center reported that hurricane Irene could possibly be a major hurricane. Hurricane Irene is the ninth storm of the month of June to November but looks like to be the first hurricane to hit the United States of America since hurricane Ike hit the Texas coast in 2008. According to the reports, there will be effect on the oil and gas installations in the Gulf of Mexico. This hurricane Irene is under that Category 1 hurricane which has a maximum winds of 74-95 mph but there is a possibility that it may strengthen into a category 3 storm that could be very dangerous to human beings and it has the capability to cause structural damage and even large trees can be blown down. It can also cause flooding near the coastal areas which can destroy smaller structures that has no strong foundation. The first victim of hurricane Irene was a woman swept away in Puerto Rico. No matter what United States of America is going through, it can still surpass those trials. They can still overcome all the obstacles that is coming into their lives.
